A HUGE thanks to Miguel and his team without whose support we simply couldn’t re-home the cats to Germany so if you live in or around Almeria and have need for a vet please consider them
The cats leave the rescues having been microchipped, passported, sterilised, FeLV and FiV tested, treated for worms, fleas and ticks and they travel under the TRACES Scheme (which is completed by the rescue as the registered owner of the cat) on one of our own transports.
The two rescues in Spain are responsible for the rescue, rehabilitation, welfare and preparation of the cats, and once the cats have been re-homed in Germany they receive the adoption fee to help them continue to rescue more cats.
We help with the preparation of the cats, and with the presentation of the cats to Germany who do the re-homing contracts.
In order to re-home a cat legally in Germany the charity must be registered to re-home cats from abroad, and they can only re-home up to their allocated quota each year.
ALStrays’s role in all of this is the coordination of the whole process, including selecting the cats for adoption, information flow, and the management of all the key relationships.
Katzenherzen are responsible for the re-homing homechecks, contracts, and ongoing support to the cats and their owners.
It is important to note that we are NOT a rescue centre and we have NO facility to take cats in off the streets.
If the cat is in either of the two rescues that we work with then we will do our best to find it a home in Germany.
If you are a rescue in Spain and feel that you would like to work with is and can meet the above requirements regards preparation, TRACES etc then please feel free to Contact US
