Cute Male Cats Comfrey and Bracken

20/07/12: Today Christina sent me wonderful photos of Comfrey (now Charly) and Bracken TOGETHER in Germany. Comfrey traveled to re-join his brother on the 14.06 transport and from the first the boys were firm friends again. He has needed a little time to trust his new parents because Comfrey has always been the more shy of the 2 with people. He first bonded with Christina’s Dad who passed a big test for a cat parent by sharing his smoked salmon supper with Comfrey! The latest news is that in the last few days Comfrey has become quite the cuddle boy with both her parents, and now that he is so settled he is allowed out in the garden and can be with Gizmo the whole day! Life is just perfect for these lucky lucky boys!!! Enjoy all the photos in the gallery below.

Below are Christina’s reports of their first days together.

18/06/12:The last evening and night were suprising. I was already back at home again, but my parents called me a few times to tell me what’s up with little Charly. At about 19:00 they opened the door to Charly’s room and went back to the TV. Suddenly Charly and Gismo appeared in the living room. Gismo is so happy to have his brother back. They played until 1:00am and then both fell asleep. Charly came to the living room a few times. My parents didn’t move and it was ok for him that they were in the same room. This morning he is back under his wardrobe and Gismo is outside again. But I think these are big steps forward. Maybe in a few days Charly is brave enough to show up during the day. He likes wet food and is eating a lot. And my parents are sure that they have the most beautiful cats in the world. 🙂

17/06/12: “Charly is very shy… he is spending all the day under the wardrobe. Yesterday after his arrival and the night, he spent in my fathers bureau to recover. He was on the toilet and he had wet food in the night. Gismo was with me in the room a few times. He noticed that there was another cat. He put his head under the wardrobe to Comfrey and they came close nose to nose. Gismo hissed for a second but then he tried to touch him with his paw. This night we will open the door to Charly’s (Comfreys) room to reunite the brothers.. Maybe charly will become more trusting by recognizing that Gismo likes my parents and that they are not dangerous.”

28/05/12: Wonderful news from Bracken’s (Gismo) family is that he has been enjoying the garden, and from the new photos it looks just FANTASTIC! The other very sweet news is that Bracken has become a litre bit of a therapy cat: “Ohhh another thing I want to tell you: Bracken is accomplishing wonders at my parents home. My grandmother is living with my parents and she is very old and ill. She is a nursing case as she has Dementia. Before Bracken arrived, my grandmother was only lying in her bed, staring up to the ceiling. She did not notice when somebody was talking to her. But since one week, she is talking to my mom again, telling here that a cat is coming to visit her 🙂 Bracken is also sleeping in my grandmother s room in his own armchair. The first time my mother was nearly crying. Yes Bracken is a little magician.” Wonderful! Now all Bracken needs is his brother Comfrey. Soon now I hope they will be re-united.

14/05/12: Bracken is fine but has been crying a lot and watching the neighbour’s cats through the window. Our little boy, whilst loving his new home, is definitely not happy as an only cat. Unfortunately our next transport is now delayed until 15.06 so Bracken must wait a little longer for Comfrey to arrive 16.05.
09/05/12: From Tina in Germany: “Here is the first update on Bracken (now renamed to Gismo because of his huge ears and his adorable eyes). On Friday, I picked him up at Mahis together with my father. From the first moment in his new home, he was really brave. He checked on everything and started to cuddle immediately. He is gorgeous. My parents bought a really big cat tree for him (and for Comfrey) and Gismo really loves to climb and play on it. At the moment he has three rooms to live in. When he feels really safe, one door will be opened after another until he knows the whole house. The first night, he was crying a little bit for his cat friends. I was so sorry for him; he does not know how it is to be alone. But it is getting better each day. My parents try to distract him. They are spoiling him with a lot of wet food. He is eating 300-350 g a day, a bit of dry food and of course a lot of goodies. The first three days were only playing, sleeping and eating for the cute boy. Now only Comfrey is missing. We are impatiently awaiting the 01.06.2012, when the boy will come and the two brothers will be reunited. I have attached some photos of Gismos first days at his new home. I think he feels really comfortable.” Unfortunately Bracken will have to wait a little longer for his brother as the June transport has now been delayed 2 weeks.

30/04/12: FANTASTIC news came yesterday that Bracken and Comfrey WILL be re-united. The mother of one of our adoptants, Tina, wants to adopt Bracken and Comfrey together. They are going to live in a big house with a garden in the country. This is just perfect for these lovely boys. I am so so happy for them. Now all Montse has to do is catch cheeky boy Comfrey and make sure he is vaccinated and ready for the 01.06 transport.

16:40 Now I have the first feedback from the April transport. Bracken has arrived well with MaHie. He is a little shy but ‘beautiful’! All is fine!
28/04/12: Last week I was re-united with Bracken, who after 2 months inside is looking much bigger and stronger, and very healthy. The reason he came to me was because, with all her other cats rushing around, Montse finds Bracken very difficult to catch, AND both Bracken and brother Comfrey had a lovely foster home waiting in Germany. Comfrey did NOT want to be caught and is now booked on the next transport in June! but Montse managed to get Bracken to Miguel for vaccination updates, and he then spent a couple of nights in my cat room, so that in this calm atmosphere I could easily box him for Friday’s transport. He is actually a lovely sweet boy and I await news from Germany that he has settled in well. I think he had a slightly stressful time during his 2 days with me as the 3 little girls thought he was LOVELY, and Anya in particular followed him around a lot! Below are some better photos that I took of him on Thursday.

01/03/12: In the last week I have had the pleasure of getting to know these 2 cute little boys. Matt took them in as kittens just over a year ago. They were with their sister Rebecca (re-homed in Germany with Mosto) in a big cage at the vet’s at 6 months! They were very nervous at the beginning so we decided to leave the brothers at Matt’s to see how friendly they became. Then while all of Matt’s young cats and kittens became very sick over last summer, re-homing was put on hold, but as Bracken and Comfrey are now 18 months old, I have decided it really is time they had a proper home of their own.

Both are now very friendly (well done to Matt and his cats!) as you can see from the photos. At first with new people they do hide but after some time they LOVE to be stoked. Bracken is more confident and will come out first. I have been spoiling them with wet food, because they were a little thin from being mostly outside, and once they got to know me they came straight out each day and put on a lovely show to charm me, wanting their tummies rubbed etc and purring away. They were also happy to meet Iain’s cat Smudge and are very sweet, completely non-aggressive little cats. I would like them to have a garden if possible, and I would definitely like them to now stay together.

Last night I handed them over to the capable hands of Montse, who will look after them until an adoptant or foster home comes up in Germany. They have charmed me, so I really hope their photos will have the same effect on a family in Germany soon!

Lucky Bracken to have landed in such a wonderful home! And heartwarming to hear that he has found his talent as a therapy chat!
