06/05/12: Felix has become too macho for MaPu’s older boy Simba, so has switched foster homes! This has really made me smile, as it seems my sad, gentle boy has been engaging in some very hard play fights, which means he is feeling GOOD! This will I’m sure be down to the love and care and brilliant food MaPu has been giving him. In just a week he has put on enough weight to have a small stomach visible, which is fantastic as he was too thin for such a long-legged big boy. Apparently on his first night he ate 200g of Grau wet food in about 1 minute and then asked for more! Life should continue to be good as Felix has gone to the lovely family with children that had planned to adopt Indiana, a nervous cat. This didn’t work out, but if Felix gets on well with their female cat Honey, this wonderful home in a big house with a garden could be Felix’s instead!
30/04/12: Time to meet Felix a charming, gentle older cat. I first heard about him from the owner of Ghenghis and Jazzy (also on this blog). Felix was one of 2 ‘stray’ cats that she fed in her garden. She was I know worried about him because he looked so sickly, but he improved a little after she wormed him. I now believe that Felix was an abandoned cat, as he is so sweet and tame, but that he could have been outside for some time before he found Marylin’s garden, and we rescued him. First he went to Matt’s vet who looked after him for 2 weeks, but then he came down to Almeria for a second opinion at Miguel’s, on his skin condition. This is when I met this poor, sad boy, and Montse agreed to take him.
We now know that Felix is about 8 years old, he has had a very bad allergic reaction to fleas, which is why he has lost a lot of fur, and he is suffering from gingivitis. Montse also noticed that he was not using his right leg properly. This lovely boy then put up with a VERY thorough examination of his legs without any aggression. It appears he has a problem at the top joint of his right femur, but Miguel thinks this is an old injury and is now a chronic problem to be managed as required.
All of this is very sad but Felix’s luck has changed. He spent a relaxed 2 weeks at Montse’s lying in the sun on her terrace, and as I completely fell for this sweet, sweet boy I have sent him to foster Mum MaPu on the 27.04 transport. I know she will love him and make him happy again. The news is that he has been eating a LOT which is great, and spent the first night sleeping on her bed! I really believe he will be so relieved to be back in a quiet home again, which is where he belongs, and I am SO SO happy to have been able to help him. Thankyou to Marylin, Matt, Eduardo, Montse and now MaPu for helping to save him. Felix to me is a very special cat!
Today I first met Felix. He is such a friendly and tame boy. Drectly he came to be cuddled when I entered MaPu´s home.
And he looks so sweet with his white moustache. I would call him Mr. Poirot 🙂
