Hollywood Used a Live Dolphin Show to Promote the New Avatar Movie
A recent event in Japan promoting the movie Avatar 2: The Way of Water featured a live show by captive dolphins.
Hypocritically, this dolphin show was at an event promoting a movie that centers around understanding the remarkable intelligence and emotional capacity of animals.
Dolphin shows are inherently harmful. Research has shown that the noise and chaos of these performances is cruel and painful to the beloved sea mammals.
On top of that, Japan is one of the only countries in the world that actively rounds up and captures dolphins for captivity and sale. Animals that aren’t sold are then slaughtered by the thousands.
Avatar’s director James Cameron claims he had no idea that Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa would pull this stunt. But video shows him clapping after the performance.
