It is just over four months now since Eurorunnel announced they were going to restrict the number of pets they allowed on each transport and at the same time introduced extra paperwork for pet transporters taking animals into the UK.
So how is it going, and what effect has it had on our pet transports?
To be fair to Eurotunnel they have implemented it well. Touch wood I have not heard of any transporter have their application to add twenty animals to a booking rejected, and we have had no problems.
It is a little frustrating (and archaic in this day and age) that we have to submit our license details each time as I am sure they could introduce a registration/membership system where we pet transporters just quoted a reference with the booking and their system showed we were pre approved.
It is also frustrating when the booking details change (late cancellation, addition etc) as we have to resubmit the form but overall they are responding within the two day timeframe they quoted so no complaints with the way they handling it.
As for our own transports we very rarely took more than 20 pets into the UK as we always go via Germany, Holland and Belgium so by the time we get to Calais we actually don’t want too may UK bound pets as the delivery schedule (and time) becomes too much, but we have noticed an increase in demand for places so we are getting booked up even quicker than before.
We have also seen a steady demand for our Calais Shuttle Service which is great, but frustrating at the same time as until we are based back in the UK we can’t implement this full time.
We will have the NV 200 in the UK full time from the end of November so can start increasing the UK Services then, and we hope to be fully operational mid March 2019.
