Spain has a pretty horrendous reputation when it comes to animal welfare, but it wrong to tarnish a whole nation with the same brush, and knowing a lot of Spaniards with pets (that they love as dearly as any of us mad English) I was not too surprised to read that more Spaniards want to take their pets on holiday with them, with one hotel booking site says nearly three in 10 searches relate to accommodation where animals are allowed.
Also of interest the fact that 50% of all homes in Spain have at least one pet i.e. 16.1 million animals in total, of whom 5.5 million are dogs and 4 million are cats.
