When the summer heat becomes unbearable, humans can seek out shade or go indoors to cool off with a drink of fresh water. But for a lonely, vulnerable dog left out in a yard or at the end of a heavy chain, there’s no escape.
In rural regions of Romania, PETA Germany and its colleagues at Eduxanima often encounter lonely dogs forced to remain outside all hours of the day – surrounded by their own waste, suffering from unrelenting parasites, and unable to find relief from the scorching summer sun.
The threat of heatstroke and dehydration can quickly turn these miserable conditions deadly.
The fieldworkers supported by PETA’s Global Compassion Fund are determined to prevent more dogs from dying in agony from heatstroke this summer. Your gift to this vital fund today will power the work of PETA’s affiliates and the local groups they partner with and could help save lives.
PETA Germany and Eduxanima are delivering sturdy doghouses that offer some relief from the blazing sun, replacing heavy chains with lightweight tie-outs so dogs have more freedom to move, and providing hundreds of animals in desperate need with food, water, and veterinary care, including parasite prevention.
Support PETA’s Global Compassion Fund and send a care package to a neglected dog:
- £5 – Give fresh water and food
- £10 – Feed a dog for two weeks
- £15 – Provide emergency care for dehydration
- £20 – Donate parasite prevention
- £40 – Feed a dog for two months
- £75 – Sponsor a small doghouse
- £100 – Sponsor a medium doghouse
- £150 – Sponsor a large doghouse
- Other – Donate an amount of your choosing
But delivering doghouses is just one part of the teams’ life-changing work for animals in Romania. PETA Germany and Eduxanima fieldworkers visit many animals routinely, monitoring their well-being and giving them treats and much-needed affection – often the first kindness that many of them have ever known. Fieldworkers also provide owners with critical information on caring properly for their companion animals – and in some cases, they’re even able to persuade them to let four-legged family members live indoors.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
