08/02/12: Today some fantastic new photos came from Maria, Harvey and Greta’s Mum.
18/12/11: Last Saturday I was able to visit Harvey and Greta in their home, and it was really lovely to see them after about 2 years. Harvey was always a cool cat, but Greta has changed from being a slightly nervous girl, to being a calm relaxed cat, who was happy to be stroked by a stranger. I am very happy for them, and having met their family, I know that they will be loved forever.
15/03/11: An update on these 2 beautiful cats is long overdue. FINALLY they have their permanent forever home, after a few more problems.
The boyfriend of their first adoptant finally gave up on Greta, after she continued to mark his belongings, and then bit him! As always these problems are put down to the humans. The dislike was mutual which is why she was behaving as she was. Some cats need what I call real cat people to love and care for them, and Greta, being a little nervous (unlike laid-back, confident brother Harvey) is one of those cats. She was unhappy and needed a new home, so as there was no way she was going to be parted from brother Harvey, both went into an experienced foster home for Xmas.
Now some 2 months later, I have fantastic news. Their foster Mum loves them both SO much she will not give them up. This is great because it means they are settled at last, after 18 months, 2 original foster homes and one failed adoption, in a home where they are both happy. Harvey and Greta are the last of our Almerimar rock cats to find their forever home, so today I am happy and smiling! Good for them, and I wish them now the happy life this gorgeous pair deserves.
27/10/10: These are the latest photos of 2 VERY happy cats. It is SO great that this brother and sister have been able to stay together.
Some weeks ago I heard that there were a few problems with spraying. Greta initially got the blame, but after advice from the girls in Germany, the adoptants realised that it was actually Harvey! Greta has always been the slightly shyer one, whilst Harvey is a delightful confident cat, so whilst their new parents had thought at this point of not keeping Greta, they realised that they couldn’t part with Harvey.
It isn’t that they don’t love Greta, just that she has been much harder work, and the frequent spraying incidents she was being blamed for was just another problem!
I had agreed with the German girls that Harvey and Greta MUST stay together, even if they were both to find a new home. Now it appears everything is fine. Their adoptants followed the advice given, and both cats remain happy and settled. This is a great example of the dedication and commitment of Katzenherzen, the organisation I work with in Germany. Their work doesn’t stop when the cats find a home. They continue to be there to deal with any issues, and to re-home cats if there are big problems or if adoptants’ circumstances change.
Anyway, good for Harvey and Greta. They look very happy, and things are finally comepletely relaxed in their forever home. Enjoy the new photos!

June 30th 2010:
The new parents of Harvey & Greta are sending us regular photo updates of these 2 former Almerimar rock cats, and long may it continue.
These latest ones show very contented cats. Harvey was always the more confident with people, but sister Greta loves her news parents and is now a very happy lady.
Enjoy the photos, and please follow the links back to my previous posts, to read more about this lovely pair.
Gorgeous Greta
Handsome Harvey
Lovely to hear this!
So they aren’t being spoilt rotten then 🙂
