“Friends, I just wanted to say that I’m fine. I have plenty of food, nice buddies and I think today the whole day in the garden to smell the flowers and sleep in my comfy bed until Loewi and Schnauzi return from their exploring. In short, it is paradise on Earth. I do not stray, I’d rather stay within earshot. I want to make sure I stay here. I worry a little. Once languishing in Andalusia lasts for a lifetime!
Only one thing is silly: I have such a funny name …Lumpkins is still quite ok, but Beanbag? Is this because of my big belly?
And I find Chippendale fully public – because my legs are short and crooked, but very stable!!”
Lumpi’s name is very funny. In Spain he DID have short legs but not a big belly. I think he is enjoying too much scrummy food, but good for him. He has developed into quite a little character and he looks FANTASTIC in these new photos.
02/01/11: I am catching up on publishing photos of our cats in their new homes in Germany. These are great ones of Strolchy (now re-named Lumpi!), who is now ‘top cat’ in his new home due to his cheekiness and intelligence!
He always seemed quite a quiet little boy at foster Mum Erika’s but this may have been because there were at times a lot of kittens there, and some with even bigger personalities that Strolchy’s. Now in his forever home he has really come into his own. AND his Mum loves him, and laughs fondly about his short legs and how he is eating so much, his stomach may soon be on the floor!
When he flew to Munich on November 4th, I was worried about him as he was in the middle of treatment for an abcess. We think this was the result of an unseen injury after he had got his head stuck in some protective netting, while trying to look out of the window. I thought about delaying his transport, but as he was much better in himself and had the chance of a quick flight, I sent him on his way with his antibiotics, which his new Mum was very comfortable with, being an experienced cat lady.
All turned out fine, and the day after his arrival he was already happily playing and winding up his new friends. Some days later I received this email from Kerstin, another indication of his new found cheekiness and that everything was very well for Strolchy:
“Yes, right… first time one of the other two male boys did not like him, but now are all friends… Strolchy think that does no matter if somebody is sleeping in the cat-bed… so that is okay if he find a place on top of the other cat… ;o) there is all enough place, itself in a one cat-bed… so he make a bed for two cats… ;o)”
Enjoy the photos!

16/10/10: It really is time that I introduced you to Strolchy. He is now 5 months old, and has been with us for over 3 of them!
Strolchy came from the dog protectora, having been rescued by Karin who works there. She spotted him all alone outside a school, on a busy road, and managed to catch him just in time. Later she saw that the rest of the litter had already been killed by the cars! Strolchy was the lucky one.
When he came to us he was tiny and undernourished, but now, although still a small cat, he is fit and well, and rather gorgeous (I love his spotted tummy!), AND he has an adoptant waiting for him in Munich. He will fly to Germany on November 4th, when Cony comes over to pick up some of our cats, and we wish this little chap well in his new life.
