16/04/11: Only 10 days after Tweety arrived in her new home, it appears she is looking for a new one. Naughty Tweety has bitten her Mum!
Actually I am not too surprised as Tweety showed us here that she had attitude! She bit Dolores who first took her to the vet, bit Erika when she first arrived at her home here, and then me one day when I was stroking her. I don’t think she means it; it is just what she does when she gets a little stressed, or wants you to stop stroking her. It does however come as a shock, as one minute she is cuddling, purring and chatting away and the next she is hissing like a little witch!
Tweety I think had a tough time when she was abandoned and she needs time to settle into a new home, feel more secure, and learn that she doesn’t need to behave in this way to make her feelings known. Unfortunately for Tweety her new family aren’t going to give her that time, and have decided they don’t want to keep her. Tweety is not the first cat from here to behave in this way. Smokey girl was luckier in that her family stuck with her.
I am sure Tweety will find the right home, but for now, whilst I understand her adoptant’s decision, I am disappointed by it. I think people, although kind, do sometimes forget that all out abandoned and semi-feral cats, are not quite the same as cosseted tame ones. Some are a little damaged by their experiences, some are not even used to people, and many have a little dash of feral to give them that extra character. Tweety is Tweety, and Erika and I came to love her. I am sure someone else will soon, and she will find a forever home that understands this beautiful little madam!
06/04/11: Tweety also travelled to Germany on the March 11th transport, and having been very well looked after at her foster home, life has just got even better for her.
On Monday evening Tweety’s adoptants collected her. These are a lovely older couple, with a beautiful home, and we are expecting Tweety to be treated like a princess there, which is just what this particular little lady ordered!!! I await new photos.
09/02/11: This is Tweety! So named because Erika found she answered to it. I have a sneaky feeling her previous owners used to sometimes call her sweetie!
Tweety was rescued by a lovely English lady on holiday. She had seen her on her last trip here some months ago with kittens, and this time really wanted to help her. Tweety is very grateful to Suzie and to Dolores from PAWs who helped coordinate things, as she really isn’t a street cat, and was born for better things!
For now she is relaxing at foster Mum Erika’s, with Katya and Lisa, while we look for her forever home. I don’t think it will take too long as Tweety is a beautiful girl, with lovely soft, longer fur. She is actually more like an English cat than our thinner-faced Spanish ones. She IS very friendly and sweet ‘most’ of the time, but has been known to hit us when she gets a little nervous. This is probably the result of a tough year outside. I am sure with lots of love and comfort she will be a VERY happy little madam again soon.
