30/04/12: Latest news of Nena is that she is still at Pam’s, where she has made a firm friend of her husband John, sitting on his lap for cuddles and even popping in to say good morning! She is also loving lying in the sun and running up and down Pam’s long balcony. We are finding it hard to believe that this cat is actually 15 as she is so full of life, but Miguel confirmed this is possible as she has few teeth remaining! Her little life was actually almost over, as the family of her owner, had asked a friend to take her to the vet to be put to sleep as they didn’t want her! Nena actually has a lot of living left to do and is so delightful and easy that Pam is VERY tempted to adopt her. Watch this space!
17/04/12: Nena, age about 15, has had a very unsettling few weeks but seems to be coping extremely well, probably because she is a sensible, cool, relaxed cat that seems to like all people. Sadly her owner died recently, and as the family did not want her, poor Nena found herself handed in to Paws. After a few days adjusting to her new circumstances in a small commercial cattery, she was moved to a pen at PAWs, where although ok, she did seem a little sad and was desperate for strokes when one of the girls went to visit her. I felt very sorry for her and persuaded my friend Pam to take her in for the 10 days up to the next transport. Nena will then travel to a lovely foster home in Germany while she waits for her new family.
I have been told that she could be 15 and she is certainly an old lady, but we think she may be nearer to 12, certainly in her health and attitude. She is a lovely, affectionate cat and has settled immediately at Pam’s. I think she feels that this is more what she is used to!
