25/09/11: I now have news and new photos of this big cuddle boy. It appears that, having lost some weight, he is becoming a much more active cat, according to his new Mum:You will be happy to learn that Rufo is very well. He has got a super coat and skin, hair and mucous membranes are no longer dry. He is not happy that he is still on a diet, but I keep telling him, you can not just have everything. My girlfriends say he is very cute and handsome (although, still a bit overweight) and he was very much a presence. He sticks to me and constantly runs between my legs. He is also a very strong character, and always tries to be the boss! We have been having a power struggle that starts often at 4am! He plays with my feet under the blanket and treats my nose like a mouse to wake me up.
Once I woke in the morning with 2 big holes in my pajamas, and once I woke in the middle of the night because he was bored and bit me on the bottom. Now I have bought him a BIG cat post so the he has something else to scratch and bite, and if he has behaved badly I shut him out of the bedroom. Slowly he is getting better!
The big fat lazy boy is long gone, but still he does not want to go outside. sometimes i make him go out for an hour to explore the courtyard but he still hates it!
Well, I’ve bought it then scratch the largest tribe, I could find, so it except me something else has to scratch and bite. And I do – so hard that I fell – always consistently banished from the bed and bedroom, if he has not behaved properly. Now it’s getting better. But a nice, fat couch potato, he is long gone. Unfortunately he did not want to get out. I sometimes lock him out for an hour so he gets used to store, staircase and courtyard: he hates it! He only wants to do what he wants to do!
He is a real character and I love him. I hope you are all well. I often think how grateful I am to you that you have brought me to Rufo! Thankyou. He is wonderful!!!”
It sounds to me that her life is SO much more fun now that she has Rufo. Ha … ha!!!
Lovely Boy
28/07/11: Rufu is VERY well. His new Mum has just sent these fantastic photos, and describes him affectionately as her ‘little fat Spanish!’ He is accepting his diet very well and slowly losing weight, and she was surprised to find that Rufu is not naturally lazy, but loves to play and cuddle, so much so that he wakes her up most mornings at 4am with a kiss on the nose! He is loving all the attention after living so long with so many other cats, and shows no signs of missing his furry friends and wanting a new one.
His Mum was worried that he really wanted to go outside, so took him out into her courtyard. Now he has seen it, it seems his curiosity is satisfied, and he shows no inclination to go outside again for now. It seems he is just happy being spoilt, and also loves to meet new people. Visitors to the house he greets at the door like a dog, which is just like my cat Mori!!! His new Mum describes Rufo as her perfect cat, so it seems Rufo has a perfect home!!!

20/06/11: Rufu is a VERY big boy, too big in fact due to his greediness. He is another lovely cat from Montse’s cat home in Almeria, and has been with her since he was found very hungry as a small abandoned kitten 2 years ago. Rufu was very loving and affectionate from the start, and is a sweet cuddle boy. His one failing is his obsession with food. It is as if he is determined never to be hungry again. With so many cats Montse has found it difficult to stop him mopping up all the leftover food, so it is great news that Rufu has a lovely lady in Germany to adopt him.
She will put this big boy on a diet urgently before his weight starts to affect his health, and I’m sure she will give him all the cuddles he wants. Rufu will be off to his new life at the beginning of July.
