These contraptions are killing Australia’s dolphins, turtles, rays, and whales

Australia’s Shark Nets Kill Hundreds of Marine Animals Every Year, But It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way!

In Australia, many states protect beachgoers by installing cruel shark nets. But these nets do not discriminate — they will immobilize and often kill whatever unsuspecting animal is unlucky enough to swim into them. The cruel devices ensnare and kill protected species like whales, dolphins, and turtles.

The worst part is that it doesn’t have to be this way. There are other methods to protect swimmers while also protecting marine life. Drone technology and special buoys that emit sounds which are frightening to sharks are humane options that have proven highly effective. Shark nets are cruel and unnecessary. Please sign the petition calling on the Australian government to ban the use of shark nets!
