When Stray Rescue of St. Louis received word of anguished, desperate howls coming from a shuttered school in the area, they thought that a dog may have been there for a few days at most. But once they got inside and were greeted by the fearful, skinny pup, it was clear that he had been there for a long, long time — the amount of feces in the rooms and his skin-and-bones state made that undeniable.
Teacher’s Pet as they fondly called him, now happily adopted and renamed Ollie, was saved just in the nick of time. But the question remains — how did he get into that boarded up school? The only way he could have wandered in himself was through a shattered first floor window, on the other side of which was a 12-foot drop, and he had no injuries to point towards a fall like that. The only other explanation? That someone deliberately dumped him there to die.
There are countless shelters and organizations whose purpose is to take in animals that people can no longer care for. This sort of cruelty is unacceptable. Sign the petition asking the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force to work with local authorities, and find whoever may have abandoned this sweet dog to die!
